The Veterans Service Foundation of Washington was founded July 25, 1991 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit public benefit corporation organized for charitable purposes. Although the Foundation purpose has its own programs, it also provides an appropriate umbrella to a constantly evolving collection of projects operated by nonprofit organizations and/or companies primarily in Washington State whose goals are to:
Foster, encourage, and promote improvement in the condition and social welfare of the American Veteran
Improve the public perception of the American Veteran as a citizen
Encourage the Veteran’s commitment for community service
Assist disabled and needy American Veterans, their dependents, and the widows and orphans of deceased American Veterans
Create and/or replenish higher education scholarship funds for children of American Veterans
Bring meaningful relief to American Veterans who suffer from:
Drug and/or alcohol abuse
Exposure to toxic chemicals
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Homelessness
Joblessness
While each program or project is answerable to the Foundation for financial reporting and ethical oversight, they muster their own volunteers, raise their own funds, and are basically responsible for their own course of action. The Foundation may provide very limited Board approved funding to support and assist these programs and projects
