Betty Jane Flaherty, known affectionately as “Aunt Betty” or “B.G” to many, passed away peacefully following heart surgery. Born in Mannington, West Virginia, Betty moved to Seattle in the late forties. She worked as a waitress for fifty five years at The Wharf, John Franco’s Hidden Harbor, The Athenian Inn and other Seattle restaurants. While working at The Athenian, she enjoyed her cameo appearance in the movie “Sleepless in Seattle.” She volunteered regularly for homeless organizations, cancer victims, and she was a lifelong lover of animals.
